Capital Projects at the Lake Superior Zoo

We’re busy as beavers here at the Lake Superior Zoo! Take a look at our recently completed projects and the exciting plans for the near future. Now that’s something to slap your tail about!

Pavilion Renovations

The zoo’s historic WPA pavilion is now a three-season event and education center. Built nearly 85 years ago with local bluestone, the pavilion now features a wood-beamed ceiling, restrooms and a kitchenette. This beautiful building overlooks the waterfalls of Kingsbury Creek.

This renovation was made possible by the Minnesota Legacy Amendment Arts and Cultural Heritage Funds, private donations, proceeds from the 2013 gala fundraiser, Donald Weesner Charitable Trust Grant, and MN Department of Employment and Economic Development Construction Grant.

Budget: $.5 million | Funded | Open
There is a funding gap of $25,000 for this project and a need for pavilion furnishings.
